Overview
The Works Policy, Research and Monitoring Branch’s (WPRMB) overall objective is to facilitate the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policy, programmes, legislation and standards for the following subject areas: civil works, land reclamation, main roads, flood water control and seaports.
As such, the Branch supports the construction and strengthening of infrastructure of national significance such as major roads, highways, bridges and seaports. Under this portfolio the Ministry currently has oversight of entities including the National Works Agency, the Port Authority of Jamaica, the Professional Engineers Registration Board, and the National Road Operating and Constructing Company Limited.
In that regard, the Branch is presently engaged in supporting major projects being implemented by these entities such as the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project (SCHIP), the Montego Bay Perimeter Road Project and the Port Royal Cruise Port.
